New Year’s Event Party Agenda for Kids

Let’s face it, as parents we have a hard time staying up until midnight these days. And of course, kids do too! But that doesn’t mean we have to miss the countdowns and celebrations! Here are some family-friendly ways to celebrate the upcoming New Year . . .

New Year’s Science: Confetti Eruptions!

Materials Needed:

  • Baking Soda
  • Vinegar
  • Water
  • Confetti
  • Plastic party glasses
  • Small bowl
  • Shallow tray or baking pan

Make a baking soda “dough” by mixing 2 cups of baking soda with a handful of confetti (sequins also work!). Slowly add water to form a crumbly dough. Line up your plastic party glasses in a shallow tray (a baking pan is good) to catch the eruption overflow. Scoop about 1/4 cup of your mixture into the party glass. Pour vinegar into a small bowl and set out with a baster or eyedropper. Let your child suck up the vinegar into a turkey baster or eye dropper and drop it into the glass and watch what happens! Bake A Fruit Pizza!

This is an easy, crowd-pleasing “appetizer” that everyone will love, and the best part is that kids can help make it!

Make A Toast!

While littles aren’t able to cheers champagne, that doesn’t mean they can’t partake in the bubbly! Use plastic party glasses and fill them with sparkling grape juice, like this one, or even just sparkling water with a splash of apple juice will do the job!

Watch A Coundown (way before midnight!)

Play a countdown video before bedtime to ring in the New Year! We love this one from PBS Kids, but a simple search for “Kids 2022 Countdown Videos” will find you a bunch, some with themes that may specifically interest your child!
